I'm a California native who grew up in both Southern California and the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm a graduate of U.C. Berkeley, where I majored in theater and minored in everything that Berkeley has a reputation for.

After college I moved to Los Angeles, where I have made an interesting living doing novel adaptations and selling original suspense and horror scripts to various Hollywood studios. I've worked for producers such as Michael Bay, Neal Moritz, David Heyman and Laura Ziskin, and have had one film made so far: an adaptation of German novelist Sabine Deitmer's psychological thriller, COLD KISSES, co-written with screenwriting partner Kimball Greenough and Thomas Reuter and directed by Carl Schenkel.

Last year I wrote my first novel, THE HARROWING, a supernatural thriller that will be out from St. Martin's Press in September. The story is based on real incidents from my high school and college years and grew out of my fascination with the correlation between mental/emotional illness and paranormal events, something Ive been aware of since I was a child and which was confirmed for me in my years teaching emotionally disturbed and incarcerated teenagers in the Los Angeles court system.

I am currently working on my next book, THE PRICE, another supernatural thriller, which will be published by St. Martin's in 2007.

I practice my Berkeley political activism in union and creative rights issues in the Writers Guild of America, west; I currently serve on the WGAw Board of Directors. I'm also the founder of WriterAction.com, a large and unruly cyber-community of over 1700 professional screenwriters.
